Suicide rocks Disney-inspired town of Celebration, Florida days after town's 1st murder reported
Less than two days after the first-ever homicide shocked the town of Celebration, Fla., a man committed suicide in the Disney-built town.
On Thursday, Celebration resident Craig Foushee barricaded himself in his home for more than 14 hours, and fired on police. They never returned fire because they couldn't get a clear shot.
After 14 hours, cops deployed tear gas and entered Foushee's well-groomed home only to find him dead of a self-inflicted gun wound.
According to his Facebook page, he is survived by three daughters. He also said on the page that he worked as a pilot for American Airlines beginning in 1989 and began the Reliant Protection Group in 2006.
Court records show Foushee's life had taken a few tough turns over the past few months. His security business failed and he was going through a divorce. But neighbors in the colorful Disney-inspired town said there was no sign he was that troubled - at least on the outside.
"Just because this is Celebration doesn't mean everyone's perfect," said Eva Medved, who lived across the street from Foushee. "People die, people get divorced, people get in trouble."
The death comes only hours after the town, which is 5 miles south of Walt Disney World, was rattled by it's first-ever murder. Cops discovered Matteo Giovanditto's body on Tuesday after worried neighbors said they hadn't seen him for days.
"I've always thought of Celebration as a very safe community," Heather Hardy told reporters as the town of 11,000 tried to shake off the shock.
