NEW YORK -- New York City police are searching for a 23-year-old man they say fatally stabbed three people and ran over a pedestrian.
The New York Police Department says Maksim Gelman stabbed his stepfather Aleksandr Kuznetsov "numerous" times early Friday. Police found the 54-year-old's body inside his Brooklyn home after receiving a 911 call.
About 11 hours later, police received another 911 call reporting a stabbing a few blocks away. When they arrived, police discovered the bodies of Gelman's girlfriend and her mother. They have been identified as 20-year-old Yelena Bulchenko and 56-year-old Anna Bulchenko.
Police say Gelman escaped in a Lexus he had stolen. He then carjacked another vehicle and stabbed another driver, then hit a pedestrian as he escaped. The pedestrian later died at a hospital.
