AURORA | The Cherry Creek School District Board of Education is set to consider a wide-ranging review of the district’s nutrition policy during its regular meeting Monday.
Cherry Creek Assistant Superintendent Scott Siegfried is scheduled to deliver the special report on food and nutrition during the Jan. 10 meeting. The presentation comes less than a month after President Barack Obama signed the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” into law. The federal legislation is designed to increase access to healthy food for low-income children, authorizing $4.5 billion in new funding for nutrition programs.
According to Cherry Creek’s Executive Director of Facility Support Rick Collier, Siegfried’s report will highlight the district’s current nutrition guidelines and compare them to requirements spelled out in the federal legislation.
