Ohio State's Pryor, Others Suspended
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor and four other Buckeyes were suspended for next season's first five games, though not the coming Sugar Bowl, for selling awards and receiving improper benefits. (The school is appealing.) The situation is the latest case study in the debate over whether college athletes should be paid. Athletic director Gene Smith said the players were trying to help their families. The idea that a Buckeye would sell a Big Ten championship ring—as Mr. Pryor did—seems unconscionable, but, says former OSU quarterback Stanley Jackson, "I know what it's like to grow up in poverty."
