Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there who celebrates this joyous holiday! The original idea behind this holiday was to give thanks for a good harvest of food and to be thankful for our family, friends and happiness int our lives. Traditional Thanksgiving dinners include Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and a dessert such as pumpkin pie.
According to waggleroom.com, “Families will gather everywhere to (over) indulge in a traditional feast, maybe to watch sports on television, perhaps to lay plans for the coming Christmas season. All in all, it’s a great day and one that’s almost always enjoyable for all.”hanksgiving is a day where everyone can find a little something to be thankful and happy about. It’s a day off (for most people) before the holiday shopping season happens. Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year and many families get very excited about waking up early or even staying up late to go with one another to find the best deals.
If nothing else, take the time to relax and get a good nap. There’s not many chances in our hectic lives to just sit on the couch and veg out for a few days. On the other hand, giving thanks to everything you have in your life can make you feel blessed, hopefully take that positive energy and do something good for someone else.
Ron Smith, a writer for southwestfarmpress.com makes a good point by saying, “Thanksgiving is about appreciating what we have but it’s also an opportunity to appreciate what we can do for someone else. The gift of service is an immeasurable blessing.”
Some good suggestions are working at a soup kitchen, adopting a new pet from the shelter, babysitting your niece or nephew to give your sibling a break from his/her hectic life.
